Outland Rangers Open Recruiting
«

February 01, 2010, 12:09:36 PM »
The Outland Rangers
is now in open recruiting, and is accepting all applicants, regardless of experience, activity, or nationality.
You may visit our website at:
http://OutlandRangers.tripod.com
The Outland Rangers are a squadron which has found its origins in another game, however, I am the Commanding Officer, and my primary interest at this point is in promoting the growth of the Air Attack playerbase, in providing an open, irregular force for all players of all nationalities to partake in. The Outland Rangers website will soon be updated with an 'Aerodrome' section dedicated to Air Attack operations and information...I will also be linking directly to the Air Attack main website from this site (whereas most sites on the internet seem to link to the UK Air Attack Club website, which I think likely leads to losing a great many new players, as it's difficult to find download links from said site, and a number of listed servers are misleading, as they belong to other games, and not Air Attack).
Again, all players are invited to participate in this squadrons' activities, without regard for their membership in other squadrons, lest we should be presently engaged in a squadron versus squadron conflict with their other squadron, in which case, their presence in that conflict could present a conflict of interest. I would ask you to use common sense and act in a dignified, sportsmanlike manner, in this instance.
The Outland Rangers is a uniquely organized squadron, from the standpoint that we will not be participating in any established tournaments or ladders. Challenges from other squadrons will be handled on a squadron-by-squadron basis, and the results of any such contest shall be posted on our website. We will not remove pilots from our roster based on inactivity, inexperience, or activity in another squadron...only for violations of our own rules, including unsportsmanlike conduct. This is an irregular squadron, and pilots are welcome to come and go as they please.
All pilots are welcome to join the Rangers, regardless of nationality or language. I am discouraged that forums seem to be divided by nationality and that there is no 'main air attack forum', as this is most certainly going to be a multinational squadron, and I intend to encourage players of all backgrounds and nationalities to join. I get the impression that I'm going to be registering individually with each Air Attack forum and posting a similar invitation in each appropriate language, as well as establishing our own forum in the very near future.
In addition to the standard rules of conduct for Air Attack and the code posted on the Outland Rangers website, these guidelines will also apply to members of the Rangers when acting on behalf of the squadron:
No Ranger will utilize any Axis aircraft, nor join GE with Ranger tags.
No Ranger will engage in any rude or unsportsmanlike conduct.
When representing the Rangers, please include 'OR' in clear visibility somewhere in your pilot tag.
I expect that the above rule will become unimportant when/if we are added to the official list of active squadrons.
If you're interested in joining, please contact me, either through the main game site via PM, and add 'OR' somewhere in the content of your pilot tag when representing for the Rangers. There is no need to await response to regard yourself as a member of the squadron, you will be added to the flight roster as soon as possible.
I would also like to clarify an important issue. In recruiting in public servers, I have been accused (mostly by the leaders of other squadrons who wish to corral all new or experienced players into their own ranks) of spamming, in the act of sending non-repeating, non-automated messages to players in these servers, inviting and encouraging them to join this squadron. These messages are not sent indiscriminately, are not sent in the interest of creating a disruption, and do not advertise any service not directly related to Air Attack. As such, these messages are not spam, and I condemn the rude behavior of certain members of certain squadrons whom have engaged in insulting, biggotive and rude behavior in result of these messages being sent. I apologize sincerely for any inappropriate reaction on my behalf, it is my position that this squadron will not be lowered to the level of these individuals, and I discourage any other members from reacting to such stupidity in any way.
There is no excuse for rude and unsportsmanlike behavior towards other players, I have no respect whatsoever for those responsible, and I have no intention of ceasing to try and recruit new pilots unless I am requested to do so by an administrator. My recruiting efforts will continue, especially as I continue to try and bring new players to Air Attack. I have been warned that creating a new squadron in Air Attack will be extraordinarily difficult, but it is my intention to do so. I encourage all players to join this squadron, and to work to help encourage new players to continue playing.
Intimidated? Afraid that your less active squadron will suffer losses? Afraid that players will leave your squadron to join ours, or that activity in your squadron will drop? Annoyed with the prospect of another squadron doing things differently than your squadron? Too bad. We're here to stay. Cope.
I would also like to encourage administrators to add our squadron to the list of active squadrons in Air Attack, and to encourage them (or any player) to contact me with any concerns, requests, suggestions or important information, either through the main Air Attack website by sending a personal message to Navarre*CCCP*, or by posting a response in this thread.
Thank you all for your time in reading this post. I hope that you decide to join our squadron...especially those of you currently involved in an inactive squadron, or a squadron lacking a Commanding Officer.

None taken.
My opinion is that the allied aircraft are not inferior...but even if they should be, what better way to improve skill than by learning to compensate for the shortcomings of one's aircraft?
Getting pounded may well prove to be the best route to getting better...and I would still contend that Soviet and British aircraft can give the German aircraft a run for their money, if the pilot is motivated.

I have seen several Spit 14's in the right hands take out GE planes,so you are right about them but I haven't seen SU planes dominate GE planes yet. Although there are a few in the game that can fly anything and come up on the winning side, skill has alot to do with it. You have a good positive attitude m8,looks good. Your timing may be a bit off on starting this squad, with the recent push to revitalize TEA and BSS, you will have some stiff competition getting recruits. Both have already lost the pilots that they most likely will so you shouldn't have problems with them, the others have their pilots set in stone and shouldn't feel threatened by your endeavor, but there will be the few that protest. Hang in there m8,don't let them discourage you from your goal,Best of Luck to you. If you need help with any thing let me know and if I can help I will,if not I might be able to steer you in the right direction. I am always ready to participate in friendly's,as long as my squad has nothing going on. I may even be able to get my CO to schedule some with you guys, let me know.

Bonz,
My interpretation is that anyone is welcome to join [OR] no matter if in another squad or not. As [OR] will not be participating in scheduled organized league events then there may not be a conflict to be in this new squad according to Nav.... now I may have read that wrong. I see the conflict with the established laegue participating sqds allowing their memebrs to join this new squad.
Will wait for verification and see how this unfolds. I wish you the best of luck Navarre!!

I would join, (maybe not) but there's two things i got bad with this OR.
a) you yourself can't speak english (either that or you're some super-geek with really long and confusing words tucked under yer belt), maybe a translator would suffice????
b) i cant fly a spitfire or anything else other than a 109k4
c) you dont do 2squad and 4squad (like, wtf is this squad about then?!?!?)
d) 'No Ranger will engage in any rude or unsportsmanlike conduct...' ummm yeah that second rule got me good!!
e) if this is a multinational squad, whats gunna be your main language???
also, im looking at your ranger command thingy on ur website. it says here for number 4:
...Proud of your status as Ranger, you display this in your uniform which is always impeccable, your behaviour always dignified but modest, your living quarters always clean, your fortifications always mended....
i waz just wondering
can u get mods for ur uniform to be impecable on Air Attack? and i dont know if you've met me but my behaviour... well lets just say i dont have any.
also, this puzzles me...
A mission is sacred, you will carry it out until the end respecting laws, customs of war, international conventions and, if necessary, at the risk of your life.
i thought this squad didnt do combat? well, 2squad or 4squad anyway??

A. I'm not certain what you'd call this language I'm speaking if not English, but most of the English speaking members of this forum don't seem to be having too much difficulty understanding me. Perhaps you are writing to me through a trans-dimensional vortex, from another plane of existence bearing a similar but unidentical England where a similar but vaguely different language has evolved. This is the most likely explanation. P.S. I am not a super geek. I am a sexy sexy man.
B. You should focus on proficiency with Soviet aircraft. It's good for you. Puts hair on your chest.
C. We'll gladly do 2squad or 4squad, so long as we're not to alternate onto GE in 2squad, and so long as the 4squad is conducted as SU/US/GB vs GE with balanced teams and teams aren't switched. We'll even do three squad. If there was a fifth squad, we'd do that too. We're just not going to be participating in any established ladders. Challenges can be handled on a squad-by-squad basis and can be conducted through a simple contest, either with a time limit, score limit, or what have you, without relying on team switching as a means of 'levelling the playing field'. Since the general belief is that Axis aircraft are more effective, that should give an advantage to the challenger by proxy, it would seem, making it all that much simpler to whoop up on us.
D. It's good to be sportsmanlike. It's more sporting that way, you know.
E. Our main language will be decided on a pilot-by-pilot basis, and is likely to be the primary or first language of the individual whom you are speaking to, but not necessarily. If we absolutely must pick a main language for the entire squad, I guess it would have to be Esperanto, which is a shame, since I've yet to learn to speak it.
The mod for an impeccable uniform is actually secretly imbedded in the very framework of the game. When in-game, simply press escape three times, pat your head, rub your belly, cluck like a chicken, hop up and down on one foot, drive walk fly or waltz to your local laundromat, insert your uniform in the most impeccable washing machine you can find, insert coins in said washing machine, wash your uniform until more impeccable, remove your uniform from the washing machine, insert your uniform in the most impeccable dryer you can find, insert coins into said dryer, dry your uniform until even more impeccable, remove your impeccable uniform from the dryer, and repeat as necessary until your uniform is really and truly completely impeccable.
If this squad didn't do combat, it would be rather pointless to have guns mounted on our aircraft. Although perhaps the weight reduction in having them removed would allow for greater speeds in running away...all concepts to be carefully weighed.

Don't worry, we have an ear doctor on staff, we will be happy to splint your strangely extended finger, and we do not discriminate against anyone. Even small blue people with stiff fingers and ear infections in spite of their lack of ears.

You´re funny.
I wish you the best of luck with your plans in founding a ´fun-squad´ out of competition. I remember we had quite a few back in the days. (DDF springs to mind)
Most of aa´ers are keen for competing though and even more love to fly the 109k.

This kind of sounds like the recent attempt to start a Saturday night league sort of thing that seemed to fizzle out. But it reminds me more of the addition to the charter several months ago for a representative,or representatives of the general public that has no interest in being in a squad to have a voice in USAAC matters. This could be an official(lol, here we go again, lol, official) squad of unofficial members, lol. A sort of public gang.
Again,I wish you luck m8 in assembling this squad and overcoming the resistance. If you find Dirty Wabbit in your recruiting efforts, have him PM me,I miss the old guff.

I might have my finger stuck in my ear but apparently yours is stuck somewhere else !
And I thought you didn't discriminate ? Seems to me by your persistant refusal to fly GE planes that you are discriminating against GE for some reason ! But good luck in your plan M8.
