Right about there is where you needed to stop. The rest of what you said was exactly what you said above......ignorant. We dont need anyone that has not lived here all their life telling us what they belive is fact.
BTW. I dont have any problems with US citizens and many of my close friends and from there.   Cool
I was hired to put some vinegar into the debate. The pay offer was laughable but since I had time on my hands I did it for fun.  biggrin Seems that Ive earned a bonus.

Your a literal minded guy Firestorm and that isnt a personal attack nor a criticism. The world needs literal minded people...they do well in engineering fields...computers etc. but they often have trouble dealing with ambiguous speech.

Youre right tho. This topic is about guns and I shouldnt deviate from that...sorry. At least you got the message about one thing when you said:
We dont need anyone that has not lived here all their life telling us what they belive is fact.
I think we can all agree on that.  Wink

Adding to what I said last I understand that people from countries where guns have been banned or at least tightly controlled have difficulty understanding the American attitude to guns. Just as we dont fully understand all the background and history that has gone into the development of attitudes in other countries they dont fully appreciate what has led to the strong feelings we have about individual rights and freedoms.

Not every American wants to own a gun and many believe there should be tighter control over their sale but most of us have this over riding sense that the rights and protections granted under our constitution have to be vigorously defended. Even if we wanted to get rid of guns in our society how would we go about it? Take away all the legitimately owned guns leaving criminals as the only armed force? I dont think so but maybe it will come about by natural evolution. It wont happen over night and any one who thinks it can happen is naive.

I start work again tomorrow and wont have time to do more than play the Air Attack game occasionally so I doubt Ill be bugging you guys with any more of my crap.  lol

This guy is one the reasons I want my guns:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20100329/ts_csm/291267

On he flip side I am sure that many of you anti gun folks would consider this fuel for your cause.
I think our forefathers had the vision to see this type of thing comming, these guys have the right to carry legal guns, LEGAL! They do not have the right to plot to overthrow the government.
If somehow the government were to break down, I would not want to be left naked and unarmed with idiots like this running around!
Doubtful that that would ever happen except on the local level for a short period, but during that period I want to feel safe and protect myself.
I know I sound gloom and doom here, but hell any thing can happen these days!

Such thing would never happen in Germany.

Not because the people are lesser stupid. No. We simply haven´t guns to shot holes in walls.

It´s that simple:

no cars-----> no car - accidents

no guns-----> no gun - accidents

Do we need cars ?

Do we need guns ?

Simple solution to a complex prob here Kai, we need cars here as most of this counrty is rual and our metro areas are huge, do we need guns? We may not need them per say, but its our right to carry them.
Many people here do not own weapons, they have never been around them, on the flip side many like me have grown up with them.
I love to Phesant and quail hunt, I love the security of a side arm and the feel of a well crafted weapon in my hand.
There is beauty in a well made shotgun or rifle, like it has been said before, a gun on a table won't get up and shoot someone.
Its a culture here Kai that won't like any other culture, it won't die any time soon.

I understand John. This topic isn´t worth to debate any longer, since everything has been said from various POV´s now. It certainly wont change over night.

When I was a boy we used to play ´cowboy and indian´ and watched the western movies on TV as if there weren´t any other. I even found some plastic-guns we played with nice and beautiful, e.g. those of Zorro.  Well, I´m not a boy anymore.

You (and others) may feel the need for guns, whereas I (and others) don´t. After all you live over there and I live over here.

We haven´t such a debate over here. But you have it and I can see why.

Even if I may understand those who want to keep their weapons, I find their  arguments rather silly and immature. (e.g. constitutional right)

I have the opinion you need more regulations on that question. If I would like to hunt, I most likely would want to keep my weapon(s) too. After all we also have hunters over here, owning weapons under very strict regulations. (also someone living with crocodiles in the garden, could probably need a gun, lol)

But what a private person, living in the city and don´t hunting needs a weapon for, is beyond me. (and I´m sure if they´d try to take their weapons away, each and everyone would claim to be a hunter, lmao)

If you also think, it needs more regulations, we´re on the same path. The rest really is a matter of education and probably also evolution. Nothing we could find quick answers and solutions for by discussing the topic to death.
