Can you say Dictatorship??

 Roll Eyes

This forum gets little use now as it is. Take away the FREEDOM to post on topics other than the game will make this site like a ghost town. frown

See you on the other side all who like to engage in some real world discussions and friendly banter.

As Hono says, I am done with this one....next seeya

Good deal Vipor ... and when you want to talk about things AA related without hate etc.... stop on by bro :)

FREEDOM ... do you really have the "freedom" to say/talk about anything you want to on any site?  I think not :)  Yes, you have the ability to type what you like.  Race down the highway at 100 mph.. you got that Freedom also... however.. expect a speeding ticket, or even a few hours in jail.

Mostly what the problem was is civility. When one strays from saying something in a nice way.. there is where the problem starts. So if you wish to be upset.. be upset at the posters who didn't know how to 'be nice'.

I'll give the UKAA a little warning we are sending some traffic their way :)

I don´t feel as if someone has taken my freedom to post away, Rex.

There is also really no hate involved on my side, as some people suggest. Well yes, I do express my anger on ignorance and blindless of certain posters, but really it isn´t meant personally.

It must be possible to discuss such issues, without folks feeling personally attacked as either individuals or american citizens.

Ho said, I really never post anything ´pro-american´. Actually this isn´t true. You may want to read my comments on ´Obama´ - related threads - and policies but then again I guess it´s not very popular as well. smile

But just because it isn´t popular, I wont keep my mouth shut.

@Tbar: sry but your opinion about forums, other than game-related, really sucks. Where is the problem to express an opinion and receiving flak? Where is the problem to counter-attack ? As long as certain rules are followed.....

You talking to me? lol lol lol lol lol
I have no hatred nor malice toward Kai or anyone else here, I have been in many spirited debates with Kai and we rarely see Eye to Eye on matters, but we both have fun with it and its brain food!
BTW Kai its blindness not blindless, if you are blindless you can see, nothing personal bro just honing your syntax.
I have laid off of BO, like I promised, now I guess I am going to be a good boy! biggrin

Wow! Americans have to go to a British site to express their opinions? What's wrong with a spirited debate on any subject? Need for rules? Yes, of course there is but I see you have a published protocol that seems to cover all the sins and omissions that occurred on the topic in question. Couldn't that protocol have been applied at an earlier stage and the debaters gently admonished when they stepped over the line? To leave things until they got completely out of hand then to step in with a such a heavy threatening hand seems to me to be too little too late.

I agree with Vipor. Your site would be dead if it wasn't for the interesting stuff. As far as I can see everything related to the game can be dealt with on the central site so I thought the regional sites were places for everyone to socialize and share views...with reasonable politeness of course.

Looks like the forum manager is encouraging all to transfer their interest to the UK site so I guess the intention is to kill this site.

I may not agree with everyone's opinions here but I will defend their right to express them" provided they stay within the bounds of civility. It will be a shame if speech has to be stifled because the incivility couldn't be moderated.

John, excuse me my typo pls. smile

No it wasn´t  explicitly aimed at you, John. Though we often don´t share the same opinions (but sometimes we even do smile), you usually aren´t close-minded and usually you don´t become nasty. Of course I expect always a rather heated debate but if I couldn´t stand the heat, I wouldn´t post such stuff at all. I don´t mind as long as it doesn´t getting that nasty.

I think those personal and low-level insults aren´t valid in such debates and really immature.

Btw. I don´t praise O.B. over everyone else. Actually I also don´t agree to certain policies of his administration. But it´s the ones, many of you seem to agree with, while I agree to those, you seem to disagree with.  biggrin

Go re-read what all Tbar and some of what Kid and Fire wrote on this and see if you do not get the vibe that they do not want us posting here on anything but AA game related stuff. Heck, Kid closed the forum for a few minutes.

Tulla, you can substitute freedom with ability. thumbsup

Tbar,

Dude...go look at the thread that put us where we are now and find a post of mine that remotely eludes to hate.

Now read the 3 other posts by those who regularly post here and see what I mean.

Since this began, the insinuation of your posts is that you plan on not allowing any off topic threads. And you gave us a warning.

Laryngitis said it best.

As for warning the UK peeps....we have been there for more years than I can remember and I do not think they mind how, what or when we post over there.

But you go ahead and do what you have to do. Wink

Well Tulla, I can't answer your question in the other thread. It seems us ignorant folks have been locked out.  lol

You can use PM's... or better yet... take it to another site/board.

-closed-

lol, nice Mod job there Tbar. If you don't like what is being said, lock the thread, then tell the posters to go away. Kind of like what Fire did, insult people by calling them ignorant, then locking the thread.

Like I said, if someone gets out of hand, just edit their post, don't lock the entire thread.

jeeez!

Can you say Dictatorship?? ... ...As Hono says, I am done with this one....next seeya

Someone else said.. if you done .. then be done and move on.

To all:

And that is the reason those topics don't belong on a site dedicated to gaming.. and in specific Air Attack. You want to discuss those things and turn your friends into rivals .. be my guest .. but do it on another site.

I don't make the rules here. Anyone that re-reads all the trash  knows the topic(s) was started just to fuel a fire and get something stinking. And it did. CoC was broken, TOS was broken. . and Forum Protocols were broken .. go read those. i am sure the topic starters knew exactly what was going to happen.. it is what the thrive on.

If your a guilty party.. then let the shoe fit ..otherwise there are no remarks addressws at you or anyone in particular.

Kid closed the post so all would calm down, cool off.. and rethink behavior in words.

Firestorm deleted an account.

My part is to either close the thread. . or remove post..or even a user that breaks the rules. I chose to let it run for a bit, however Kid saw differently. At this point the warnings have been made. No further warnings.

When you boil things down its not about the topic matter.. its how you the users respond and your choice of words. Being civil etc.

As stated, our next USAAC meeting will address this and some firm decisions will be made.

In my mind you don't..
>> go to a church site to discuss porno
>> you don't go to a gardening site to discuss politics
>> you don't  go to a World Affairs site to discuss gaming

We will let the BoD sort this out, as it should be.

use terms like Dictator all you like, but it is YOU the users that created the problem .. not the USAAC Mgmt. Thank for considering the position you put us in and making our job so .. pleasant.

No further comments from me  .. but watch what you post and say as I will gag you for a while..

Is a Moderator/Admins job to moderate posts, or to lock threads?

You guys can edit posts, can't you?

Oh, btw Vipor and Laryngitis, at the UK forums they lock posts also. That's because they are subjects, and not citizens that enjoy freedom of speech. Wink

hmmm....I don´t like gardeners, never did. And gaming isn´t something, I need to discuss with politicians. Actually I recently had the idea to visit a church site and discussing child-abuse. Know what ? They didn´t tell me to stfu or leave.

Tbar, wherever humans meet humans, they will talk and debate. Be it in a bar, in a supermarket, in a church or on a forum. Game related or not, really doesn´t matter. Next you want to ban the ingame-chat, when folks debating issues, other than game related, you don´t like ?

I turn friends into rivals by debating contrary topics ? I´m well aware that I´m not everyones buddy but who can expect that anyway ? But what you suggest here is comparable with a communist censorship, without being communist, lol.

If you think you´ve to close non game-related boards, just because of this little brawl, you´ll be workless. Just like a bartender who decides to close his doors, for exactly the same reason. If you think that´s the wtg, I´ll have one forum left to cover. smile

What does stfu mean?

You know what it means so does everyone else. Using acronyms to bypass a word filter is grounds enough to ban you from the site. We don't allow cussing or speaking to other people like that.

I didn't tell you that either, maybe someone else did. I simply said be civil. Watch the tongue and the choice of words.

So please,  don't use terms like that.. or anyone else reading this post. Its not user friendly :)

Subjects as opposed to citizens...now there's an interesting topic that might be safe to discuss.  idea  Plenty of scope there for all of us to air our ignorance  biggrin
It seems that some are beginning to feel more like vassals being admonished by the lord of the castle. But it would be a bad idea to have another war start this time between the "management" and whatever the rest of us are called be it subjects, objects, citizens or serfs. So why don't we just all agree to keep on debating but to stop calling each other names. Novel idea right? We moderate ourselves :) and leave the "management" to slumber in peace.   Kiss
