Rules:
in a nut shell
 10 rounds
 no alt limit.
 1 square map limit
no landing fight to the death.

Any pilot going out of the map limit will get a ref's warning,
if he continues out of bounds he will be called to crash,
if he does not crash the round will be given to the other team..

after you die you stay down till the next round.
min 2 pilots to fly each round.
more than 6 pilots flying  per team must be even, 7 vs 7, 8 vs 8 ect..
A team may rotate pilots after each round.

after engage command from the ref you must engage the enemy.
then you have 2 min to run if need till the next engage command.
If you still have more questions keep reading..........

Marine Memorial League is sponsored by the USAAC and adheres to all COC of the AA and the USAAC. The league operates a policy of one pilot, one squad. This means no “ringers”, no multi-squad pilots. C/Os it is you responsibility to ensure that all pilots in your squad are registered on the CLP. This will ensure that all pilots will see the arenas.

General:

Marine Memorial League Last Team Standing will be played on the standard team map with AA off. Squads will fly GE camp (home) and SU camp (visitor) with all planes available. Teams must not move from their spawned positions until the (Scramble) order is given.

There will be no altitude limit,
the map limit is one (1) square around the bases
Any pilot going out of the map limit will get a ref's warning,
if he continues out of bounds he will be called to crash,
if he does not crash the round will be given to the other team..

There is no reason to switch camps after the 1st half. A match will consist of 10 rounds with a 5 minute break between the 5th and 6th round. Referee will give the scramble command and both teams will take off and will be free to engage. All planes are to engage within two (2) minutes,

If the Referee can visibly see that a plane is not engaging, he will make an announcement to the appropriate team to engage.

If the pilot still will not visibly engage he will be counted as dead and must crash. Once you are shot down you can not take off, you must wait for the next round.

When round is over pilots must crash, NO LANDING. (No Exceptions) (Rookie room does not affect your score).

If a Referee can not be allocated for the arranged match, but there is a Ref on each of the 2 teams, then the match may go ahead with the refs on both teams recording and keeping check on the scores and time. Any disagreements will be dealt with via the LM/Head Ref. Please post results on the USAAC forums.

(New)
Scoring:

Scoring will be 1 (one) point per round awarded to the Last Team Standing for the round. All points won by each team will be added to the standings table, and at the end of the league, points will be tallied to determine 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ..etc In the event at the end of the league two teams are tied in points, a playoff will be played to determine the winner.

Match Start Time:

All matches will start at the scheduled time. Teams are encouraged to be present 15 minutes prior to the start time. No “grace period” or delay will be allowed 2 minutes past the start time. Either team may request a “grace” prior to the 2 minute mark. Matches will start no later than 7 minutes past the scheduled start time. In no case will more than one grace be allowed, regardless of which team calls for the grace. In the event a Ref arrives late, the match will start within 5 minutes of the Ref's arrival.

Team/Pilots:

Teams will be a 6 vs 6 format base. (Squads are encouraged to fly all players as long as teams are kept even). A given team may fly 2 to 6  pilots,
If a team chooses to fly 3 against 6 it will be allowed.
Or the team with less pilots can take a forfeit for all 10 rounds.
Teams must fly even numbers of pilots if flying more than 6.

(Example) 8 vs 8, 9 vs 9, etc. (However if a team drops a pilot during the round the other team does not have to drop a player). If a match started 8 vs 8 and the team only has 7 for the next round the opposing team must drop 1 player.

A team may not fly with less than 2 pilots for any round, grace periods will not be allowed at the scramble time for any round. No Exceptions. If a given team has less than 2 pilots present at the 1st round scramble time, the full match (all rounds) will be forfeited. No Exceptions.

If both teams have less than 2 pilots as 1st round, both teams will register a total round loss. Both teams will receive a “0” score, both teams forfeit and the match is over. Each round must have 2 pilots minimum. Any given team that does not have 2 pilots at scramble time for any given round will forfeit that round and any remaining rounds. .  Players that can not fly due to their team has too many may sit on the US runway at the Ref's discretion. Players sitting on the US must not flood coms, and will be removed at the Ref's discretion if said problem occurs.

KIA:

Once a pilot takes off from the runway ( in the air) upon the scramble order, said pilot cannot take off again.  (Exception) If a pilot crashed/collides on take off for any reason the pilot may take off again. If a pilot is shot down, crashes, collides, or is ordered by the ref they are dead and cannot continue for that round. Pilots must stay on the runway with engines off. The referee may make an exception if warranted, pilots need to ask if any doubt.

Dropped Pilots:

The dropped pilot rule only applies once the round starts (after scramble order). Prior to start there is no dropped pilot rule. The term dropped pilot is defined as: When a pilot during the game dropped out of the game for any reason. Once a round starts a dropped pilot is considered dead and may not take off and or re-enter the battle for a given round. There is no forfeit for a dropped pilot or does the opposing team need to drop a pilot.

The MML-LTS is a fun league, to promote friendly banter all tags will be identifiable tags, with preference to include squad identification. Up to the first 6 spaces will be used for squad identification only. Example of allowed tags:  USHA_Slayer, Tkfm_Vipor, BSS_Joker, etc.. Or Salami, Madman, Nemo, etc.

Behavior:

Squads will restrict themselves to friendly/internal coms and will heed the commands of the referee at ALL TIMES. Referee's will be instructed to penalize (forfeiture of the round or possibly the match) any squad that disrupts the other team by flooding the coms or refuses to obey the referee's commands. Pilots that cause disruptions will be asked to stop. If they continue they will be counted as dead and will not be allowed to play the remainder of the match, and will not be allowed to fly the next weeks match. (No Exceptions). The league is intended to be fun for all teams playing in it. Consequently teams must be seen to be playing the game fairly. It is the referee's discretion as to whether he/she feels that a squad have been deliberately unsporting and can award the game to the opposition. The referee must not be rammed, shot, stabbed, run over, mutilated, burned, covered in tar and feathers, beaten, battered, verbally or physically abused or ignored.
Disputes/Complaints

In the event of a complaint regarding the teams, or a referee, the C/O only will e-mail the USAAC League Manager at  lm@usaac.us  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . It is advised that at least one member of each team as well as the referee records each game to help clear up any possible disputes. (Complaints will not be headed with out evidence). The USAAC League Manager reserves the rights to change or edit the rules of the MML-LTS at any time. Said rule changes would be posted publicly with notice on the USAAC forums. Where possible LM's of other communities would also be sent notice of the posting via e-mail or CLP notice.

Not sure about the whole no alt limit thing.
I think people will just do the 109k and each round could take ages to finish off. On the map it may look like pilots are engaged to the ref but in reality one could be 2km above and just trying to zoom n boom and repeat. These kind of encounters can last ages if the other pilot is adept at counter Z&B, therefore meaning each round could last a long time.

Can I ask what the reason is not to have the alt limit?
Lets have a league where the 109k isn't necessarily king?

And on the other hand it is impossible for the ref to know if someone violates the alt limit as well. Much easier to enforce a map limit. And how would you rule on someone inadvertantly going 5 feet over the limit when climbing or turning? Watch every round in a replay and look for a pilot to go over? Pass....

As for engaging, from the matches I have been in or reffed it really was not an issue. Nor have the rounds lasted too long.

Let's hope it doesn't become one now!!

This issue has come up before and is a rather hard one to enforce either way.
We at the US club did run test on it and ended up with the no alt limit.

However both ways have advantages and disadvantages

I have been talking to many pilots to get the best way to work this out.
an  alt limit of say 15 k feet ( 4,572 meters ) will bring more variety of planes
such as spits and la 7's,

 No alt means mostly 109's

an alt limit will move the game play faster as you cant keep grabbing alt.

no alt limit will result in a lot of roping without engaging

you can tell a pilot to engage the enemy and stop running but must set a distance
of what is actually considered close enough to be called engaging.
2300 ft  (700 meters) would be considered a striking range

If the ref is recording either  way can be seen in the recording.

Its a tough call and you cant please everyone.

Perhaps a vote from all the squad CO's would put it to rest... biggrin

Hey FMJ,  most teams won't make it to 10 K or 15 K.  The K4 and the LA7 are very good planes in this game format.  When we last played this league most teams went head to head at the start.   And if you have a team come right at you, you won't have time to climb to high before you engage.

Another thing is there is a 2 minute time limit from the time of the Scramble command before the teams have to turn and engage.

There again, You might hit 20 or 25 k but it won't happen often.

I hope this helps!

Afraid its been the other way around from what I've seen but I take your point.
109 dominance it is then. I guess we see how long the first round of matches last

I am not complaining about the alt limit rule, worth trying it this way.
But I do think it will result in almost everyone going 109k4, possibly a few rushers in La7.

I wanna mention tho, I don't think with a 10k alt limit the 109k4 is especially disadvantaged, I think the reason it appears this way is because many teams wait until near the alt limit before attacking, which restricts the 109k4's ability to climb out..   If people attacked sooner maybe at 5-6k, the 109k4 could still have the advantages it normally does.
The main problem is the opponents usually have a few 109k4 as well, so neither is gonna get the alt advantage. But thats a problem of an anyplanes arena not an alt limit problem.

perhaps if people want an alt limit but with more room you could raise it to 12k or 15k, we have tried that in friendlies, but people soon argued for it to be lowered again.

It always seems odd to me for people to argue for these ultra restrictive 1x1 limits on the one hand, but no alt limit on the other, surely if the opinion is that a spit or p51 aren't allowed to 'extend' horizontallty, then a 109k4 shouldn't be allowed to 'extend' vertically?

I prefer an alt limit in LTS.

The Wednesday LTS event is a blast.

Why the need for a change?

The no alt limit for the Marine Memorial - LTS is something that was discussed during the first time the USAAC ran this event. Lets see well if there is a 10k alt limit just like in the Wednesday LTS then you would make extra work for the ref or league manager to have to review the films to see if anyone was over the alt limit.

Now you would think that this would not be a problem for any squad but I assure you that there would be someone that would complain that someone was over the alt limit. (Especially if the game was very close)

So to keep this simple the elimination of the alt limit solved this problem. If no alt limit then guess what no one can complain of someone being higher then them.

Well you say that with no alt limit that everyone will be flying a 109-K, well maybe and maybe not. (Want some fun then make a rule that you can use only 2 - 109ks, 2 - LA7s, 2- Spit 14s.............. lol  Better yet use only rookie planes..........  leaving

Only thing that makes any difference to me is that we make sure that this league is still called the Marine Memorial - Last Team Standing..............................................
