In the US we have football and another called Soccer,I guess in Europe they call them both football. Whatever we call it I would like to know just what the allure is that attracts so many avid fans on both sides of the big pond. I have never been a fan of football, baseball, soccer,or any other sport like these so maybe that is why I can't understand what the big deal is with them. I just can't understand why millions and millions of fans spend billions and billions of dollars,or euro's on these sports, and why the players get such high wages. Is this all really worth the money you all spend? Everywhere you go you can tell if there was a game of some sort the night before by the way all the people are chattering about it. They will go on for hours, some bringing up statistics from decades ago, some almost coming to blows over it,lol. Now I couldn't tell you whether O.J. Simpson or Joe Namoth made goals, homeruns or hip checks,or even if I spelled their names right but I can tell you that they and all the others made way to much money. All this to chase balls, huh. Maybe I am just a bit naive but I can't see where anyone is worth a million bucks or more a year for whatever they do.

Well bonzy It's the way of our great nation. And the dream that anyone can do anything for a living and be financially prosperous. Even serial killers are making money from marketing certain items..lol.

Besides I think I should be payed generously well for my shining personality and quick wit....as Martin Luther King Jr. said...I have a dream...hehehehe.

They go to the games for the gang fights.
If you noticed many soccer fans go to blows at the games.

It's a chance to get seen on the news.. crazy
Also if you like to streak for a crowed this is also the place..

and lets not forget the rioting after the game when your team wins....
I would rather watch these blokes more than the game.. biggrin

Tbh Bonz US football gained it legs in the 20's and 30's here with college, Knut Rockne and Notre Dame led the way with their winning traditions, pro ball here didn't get its start till the 50's here then came to life in the 60's, peaking with the 69 super bowl.
Its a spectacle sport much like what the Romans did in the coliseum!
You ever get to the states and Florida I will take you to a Florida game, talk about a spectacle! and usually a good game !
Any way its a good excuse to blow some money and get drunk!
 biggrin
