Good try, AA. Maybe not a good tactic to stay at low level...you did much better with altitude. Plane choices didn't help you either but you fought valiantly. Well done.

Thank you for reffing Luke.

Ya Luke we were 1 short,if he showed up we could have had 8v8,if we had a ref. Cheer up m8,it's a Raven thing. We always either get a ref at last minute or have none. We are the new guys on the block you know,we intimidate them with our black color, pointy beaks and beady little eyes. Some squads have refused to send refs for this league, same ones that think they are the best and above that. They also are the first ones screaming for another league when others are over. If I remember right in the rules it says if no ref present then both C/O's ref and keep track. Maybe this should have been the way they all should have been reffed. That way every squad would have participated in reffing and couldn't weasle out of it. TY Luke for Reffing.  thumbsup

thumbsup Great Game AA,very good try but I think with k-4's you might have done better. Other planes are better in 2 or 4 squad, not LTS.

thumbsup thumbsup Awesome Teamwork Ravens!  thumbsup thumbsup

Which Squads are refusing to ref this league?

Ghost, that is an embellishment I feel on Bonz's behalf, but we can go look at the list of who reffed each match and determine which sqd(s) have reffed and how many times and which have not. I did notice last week that TKFM took all 3 late matches after flying in the early one and 2 of the tickets were taken on Sunday. I took the 3rd late Saturday evening..... It is a problem and there are a couple (or more) of squads who are not helping out their fair share.

I don't have the specific's but it sure seems like a small handful are participating and others are not.

My main statement went ignored so I will put it here again.

This might be an idea on how to solve this problem in the future. With all the thought that is put into other things maybe it's time to put more thought into this problem. Instead of bickering over it we should pull together, listen to ideas with out criticism, and craft a way to solve this problem to benefit all.  Cool

First step I would suggest to Ghost is to remove all those who do not referee matches from the referee list. There are currently 31 in that list and obviously many are not active. Frankly I don't know why some even volunteered in the first place.
I used to be on the list but when personal issues got in the way I removed myself from the list and that is what I would expect of anyone who is no longer able or willing to serve. When I consider myself able to serve again I will re-join. I guess some folks just like to be on lists or have titles but don't like to do the work.

Some time ago I suggested that the voluntary aspect should be removed by making squad CO's responsible for providing referees. It should be a condition of being in a league that each squad provide referees on the days or times that they are not competing. In other words the official fixture list should not only show the two competing squads but also the squad responsible for providing a referee for that match. In instances where a referee does not appear as scheduled the responsible squad should have league points deducted.

Until such time as squads and players are prepared to step up and participate in refereeing the burden will fall on a few and they will quickly lose heart by having to cover too many matches. I can vouch from personal experience that sitting in front of a computer refereeing other people's matches week after week is no fun and can be downright soul destroying . However, if enough people were prepared to step up to the plate and do their share the burden would be eased to an acceptable level. It has become obvious that not enough of our fun loving pilots are willing to voluntarily share that burden. Hence my suggestion that squads must accept responsibility for participating in the refereeing if they want to be in the league.

The only other sensible approach would be what Bonz has suggested and simply have each match refereed by the CO's of the participating squads.  After all, Tank has made the refereeing job as simple as possible with the automatic  scoring programming so that it's not all that difficult for someone to play and referee at the same time. It's not, in my mind the ideal solution, but may have to be the way of the future.
