Lotta self-help tapes out there. Got one called "How to Handle Disappointment." I got it home and the box was empty.

Yes I did didn't I?

Seems I'm imperfect. What a surprise. Thanks for enlightening me old friend.

My interpretation of this means that Shrap indeed has something specific in mind to say but defers to posting that it is hard to not say that specific something instread of having a go at the thread.

Now on the other hand, if he had replaced the word something with anything, You have no idea how tough it is sometimes for me not to say ANYTHING, then Fire's retort would be valid. As it is, he did not say the something that was on his mind, in essence, he just posted that it is hard to not hit "softballs" thrown up on these forums.

Well two of you have attempted to analyze what I said and, to date, Vip seems to have a better grasp of what may have been in my simple mind. Nevertheless I love to watch a good war of analysis so by all means, Fire, continue to place such value on my words that they require in depth examination of their meaning. It makes me feel like a modern day Shakespeare.

I have every confidence that whatever Fire's insightful analysis reveals, Vip is more than capable of continuing to put forth a well thought out rebuttal on my behalf. So for the benefit of the entire community I ask Fire to re-consider my original comment and to attempt a more carefully considered evaluation of any hidden meanings that he may perceive. He would be well advised to build links between his ideas and the ideas of the text he is analyzing. He should think of the quote as a “specimen on the table.” to be taken apart and carefully perused. Since, in this instance, the quotation is particularly rich and complex he will need to spend more time "unpacking" its significance.

I and, I am sure, the entire community is looking forward to a continuation of this epic struggle. We can only hope that, at the end of the day, we will all have a more profound understanding of what shrapnel meant when he wrote: "You have no idea how tough it is sometimes for me not to say something." It is, undoubtedly a phrase of significantly historic proportions that will resound through countless future generations and be subjected to countless arguments and counter arguments in order to finally uncover the truth. The phrase will become known throughout the literate world as "the shrapnel enigma."

Darn it, Vip.It's my secretary's day off.  I had to look up the word segue  confused
"a smooth transition from one topic or section to the next." So, yep, I guess we could now transition away from poor Bonzy's innocent little humor post to a full scale debate on the subject of blog and forum analysis.

I know that Vip appreciates my propensity for writing crap to entertain myself at everyone else's expense but I fear I may be taxing Fire's sense of humor to the limits of its endurance.  biggrin Australians are honest down to earth folk who have little patience with literary tomfoolery.

It's all in good fun guys.   Cool  and I wish everyone a very happy festive season.  snocool
