wow fire. people is a cool answer. I do enjoy the people, otherwise it wouldn't be as much fun, lol. My Grandfather worked for Lockheed missiles and space program in the 60's and helped develop the trident missile system that was deployed on our subs. He also took flying lessons through their program and I got to go with him, eventually flying 150s, 170's etc. and finally a piper cub he built. I got to co-pilot and turn the stick and follow a heading.lol. I was in love with the reno air races and the  p-51 mustang. Ive been in love with that aircraft and all warbirds ever since. This game is not real of course, but all the elements make it a blast to play for me. Its too bad the game version of the p-51 is not as amazing as the real P-51. I still have fun flying it in the game. I think sometimes if I was a young man in the 40's i would have been a trumpet player in a big band or a ww2 fighter pilot, hopefully telling my stories of flying and fighting on the discovery channel. lol. ok, next ? different post huh?

I also think that Fire hits the nail on the head when he says "people."

I doubt whether I would be around for long if all I could do was play the game. It's the interaction with the people that makes the difference.  Yet there are some amongst us who insist that the forums should only be for game related topics. I believe that the game only survives because of the community spirit. After all there are more sophisticated more challenging games out there but our small group of enthusiasts continue to play AirAttack year after year. Of course this is partially due, as Fire pointed out, to it being free and also many of us don't have the time nor patience for more complicated games.  Still I think that the main reason is the bond of friendship that has developed, maybe even the rivalries or dislikes between some :)

Anyway I happen to believe very strongly that the interaction  on the forums plays a large part in forming that community spirit. Sure there are many who do not like to write and prefer to communicate via Team Speak and I can understand that. Nevertheless there are some of us who like to express ourselves in writing, some of us may be uncomfortable with speaking. Both TeamSpeak and the forums are valid and relevant ways of staying in touch with each other. I also believe strongly that folks should not be limited in what they want to talk about as long as they remain respectful of others.  One may join a sports club to play sport but it's not just the sport that holds it together; it's the social interaction between its members.

I'm pleased that Gunfighter stepped forth and let us know he visits the forums regularly and enjoys much of the material. Hopefully there are others who feel the same way even if they do not contribute. It would be nice though, if they would say something just to indicate that they like the forums and would want them to continue even if they, themselves are reluctant to contribute. You can't expect the stalwart few to continue posting if they think no one is interested in reading what they write.

I guess I personally started out with the old saying 'if you can't beat em join em'

As most of you know I'm Mutleys wifey, and after a long break he found his way back to the game, this time however I thought I either become an AA widow or I'd join in the fun

What has kept me here......YOU!...... Every gorgeous one of ya's!

Whether talking on team speak (luv to hear your sexy voices from all around the world), chatting on comms in game, or reading interesting/fun ideas, news etc. on the forums

The game itself is a legend.... just luuuuuuuv flying. I've been playing for coming up to 2 years and count myself as a learner, there's still soooo much to learn!

1v1's have to be my favorite, however I enjoy ffa, teams, the league events and of course the very best, the 'fun events' - it's a game of strategy and skill.
I tirelessly try to give everyone a good fight (for me it's not the winning, though it is cool once in a while to defeat a great adversary)

Being part of a squad is the ultimate - chatting, playing and working together - SALUTE BBC!

Air Attack is not just a game to me, it's the 2nd family I have chosen for myself

Luvving you all  Kiss

I like the game itself for it's simple arcade type play, all the action in the big events or matches that bring in the numbers to remind me of how it once was and that these days there are Fun Events. After losing the game on the Korean servers for a short 2 year period and coming back into the game a little over 2 years ago I can now use teamspeak to communicate with the people. Before this the only interaction I had with all you people were on the in game coms but now hearing everyones voices, accents, etc it has brought my love of the game to a whole new level and I am digging it. I feel we are all one big happy family(sometimes not so happy, lol) and that is cool as hell.
The Fun Events are the best but it was to bad we didn't have these in the old days when the numbers of players were much more than today. Anyway my plans are to be here 'til either the game or myself dies, which ever comes first, lol.

Since Temp, as usual  biggrin won't give a straight answer I will try to help him out a little.

I think he plays because he has optimal experiences (not to mention orgasms) while playing AirAttack. These optimal experiences are attained by him having effective personal interaction with the system or pleasant social interactions with other people connected to the Internet. His personal interactions are facilitated by having appropriate goals, operators and feedback. His social interaction is provided through appropriate communication places and tools. In other words he enjoys bs'ing with his m8s and uses TeamSpeak to do so. The game itself is of little consequence coz he aint very good at it. He would vehemently deny (as some have suggested) that he is a power crazed egomaniac intent on a personal vendetta against those innocent individuals who get their fun from cussin up a storm and throwin personal insults at their opponents.

I hope that helps clarify the situation.  confused

Deano, kid, popgun, redneck, 3_STOOGES_all of em. don't be shy now.

Need to get away from your real life?

Want to spend some time on R&R on the internet?

Tired of watching mindless TV and old movies?

Card games and going around in a circle (car racing) getting boring?

Try Air Attack!!!

The game you can never master, always get a thrill either flying in FFA or in a match with a bunch of buddies you call a squad, whom many you have never laid eyes on yet most will call you a brother (and a few sisters) and feel a kindred and respect for even if you do not always see eye to eye in the game room or forums! And this is a world wide net with members from several different countries.

I have been enthralled with flying almost my whole life. I flew for the first time at 4 yrs of age in a single engine Cesena. From then on I was hooked on flying anything from kites to paper airplanes. It progressed from there and my father and I started flying control lines planes when I turned 7. These are little gas run engine planes varying in size on a pair of lines that controlled the flight. You would stand in the middle of an open field and have someone start the plane, most flying counter-clockwise, and start going in circles till it ran out of gas which was usually about 3-4 minutes best I recall.

Then came rocket kits and sending frogs or insects up to the moon!! I didn't really stick with this for long as it became boring.

I will to tell you that I have been blessed to fly frequently and enjoy being a passenger yet always felt I should be the one piloting the plane.

So, I started Remote Control plane flying in 1983 with a good friend. We each bought a kit to build which took us about 3 to 4 months to complete. It was a Jetfire 40 plane, high wing advanced trainer with an OS Max 40 2 stroke gas engine and a Futaba 6 channel transmitter and receiver. This was my first of probably a dozen planes I have flown. I still own 6 built planes : Piper-Cub  76” wing span, Astro Hog 71”, high wing trainer 56”, Cherokee 58”, Corsair 56” and my favorite, a P-51D 56” with an OS Max 60 2 stroke. It will do about 100mph.

I have 2 kits that need to be built, a 51” Cobra and a 1/7 sport scale P-51D with a 65” wing span. I will probably use a 4 stroke engine in it like I have in the Hog and Piper Cub.

I flew regularly till 1999 when my wife (now ex) told me I had too many hobbies and had to cut out 2 of the 3 I had.  I stopped bowling and flying to try to be a good husband and be at home more with our son, Tripp who was born 11/22/98.  In case you are wondering, the hobby I kept was golf.

Soon after I stopped flying, my buddy and I we introduced to AA on the zone by Raider or Bear. He was in the 57th. We were hooked instantly and I began flying as BnZ_StockJockey and my friend is Shark. We both flew with USA tags with Bolt(and may others like Sal, Hoser, Breeze and I cant recall who all else) and he is still USA_Shark. There were nights in FFA where Shark and I along with Temper in his Yak would see how many stars we each could get preying on all the others. (Temper and I were much better than I am now.)

We brought in a few other pilots and really the only one who flies now is Mauler, a long time friend of Shark’s who I met. So to appease my wife, I stayed home instead of going out to fly RC planes.

So I flew online, joined ODT which eventually merged into GMW which eventually folded. RCSlopesurfer was in those squads as well and introduced me to Gelp. Gelp and I hit it off right away and the Temple took in its first non European pilot. I am in charge of the Western Temple while Ming and Tripi still carry out duties in the main Temple.

I fly because of the people, the leagues, the events and because I love the game.

This is a choppy condensed version of what all I could say but wanted to get it out there quickly!!!
