Child Boards: Military Aircraft, Non-Military Aircraft, AA Pilots Hangar, Crash and Burn, Members Hobby Album

Well, whatever they are called, the new post icon does not flash when there is a new post in one of these. Is there any way to fix it?

I think it can be fixed, however it does depend on how the forums were set up to start with. Its very hard for me to test things on this forum because they have not worked correctly for me in ages.

New post made within those 'child boards' should have the 'title' of the board in BOLD type when new topics/post appear. The Section incon should blink as you point out.. but does not.

Truth is we need new forums. No one wants to take on the task because 'conversions' hardly ever work right... and sometimes not at all.

We will see what we can do to correct the situation.

If there are any other oddities about the board please post them here. I will try and resolve any issues we can.

Hi mate,

I would suggest we upgrade to v 2.0 and that should fix the issues we have with this old board.

This would be a topic for Kid n BoD to decide upon. Fire, most of this work would be on your shoulders. When decision is made, I will of course offer any help I can.

Fire,

Have you looked at the files needed, the conversion, etc at this point? On the surface I agree with your accessment as to ".. no big deal .. " , however I would advise you to go check it out before we go to the BoD or make any recommendation.

At this point I am only the Forum Mgr .. not the site administrator. Given need to access the data base and possible have access in full to the site ... is why I suggest you need to make the conversion. After or during the process I can work closely with you on TS as we work. I can make arrangesment as far as the time of day in my time zone to match up to something you can work with also.

Also lets make sure it will intergrate with the site as before, if not better. Right after installation and basic setups we need to deal with those SSI or RSS issues and which is best for our needs.. and your requirments/desires also (as our hosting agent). If we let anything go to long.. you know how this group is.

IMHO it is best to let the BoD decide if any upgrade should take place. They would have questions etc and we need to have answers pro and con and well as direction in advance as to what to do if ... some failure occures during installation etc. If we look into this matter then we will already have all the homework done for the Next BoD meeting which will take place the first week of August. We can move rapidly after that.

Another issue that I would like to have resolved is the domain .
usaac.us
Vrs
airattack.us

I do not understand why there is any need for two domains to complicate life. Can we please correct this. airattack.us is the offical domain.

Main issue is the forums. Are there any issue that you know about that would prompt some BoD need for duscussion?

If the upgrade was to go ahead I would be using a different domain for testing purposes well prior to releasing the live version. Its a simple swap of the database that I would do late afternoon which would be very early in the morning your time and have little or no effect on traffic.

We do this type of thing every day where we design, build, test and get sites ready for the Go live day on development servers that reside on the same IP so we know the domains work on the live sites.

I dont see any major hiccups but that doesnt mean there wont be any on the development side but it certainly wont happen on the live site. If I cant get it working to complete satisfaction then it doesnt go live until that happens.

You will have access to the dev server once the decision has been made.
