1st of all, Happy Birthday to Mrs Mutley and Ming!  Happybday  Late , sry about that....

But afaik the founders were all americans.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the original members were all Brits?

That´s a very´speshul´choice for me, Thunder. Were they more popular in the US ?

I'm not sure they were tbh. The only album I can recall from them is RTF, and like I mentioned before, the length of the songs really hurt as far as radio play goes.
I remember hearing them on the late night radio shows, when they played albums through the night and that is when I heard it the 1st time at a young age of 14 or 15.  biggrin

Because you said you always wanted to be a ´cool´guitar-player, I remembered another forgotten?  guitar player/band ..... Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. There again, they didn't get a lot of radio play, but they could bring the house down LIVE.
Here is a sample of the Bromont show from 1979 called Dragonfly.

My favorite song from that show is "I'm A King Bee", but because of some bad language, I didn't post it. So if you'd like to see it, just search youtube for  Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush: Bromont show 1979(in it`s entirety). This concert really shows his talents at a young age. For me, the 1st half is outstanding.....the second half is a bit over the top, but to each his own  biggrin

Yep, I misread it. And to confuse me even more, both founders Derek Moore and Ron Howden played in different bands in american army- casinos in France (lol), before they met.

Well, 2 brits that played in bands in american army-casinos in France, went to Germany and founded a band with a german spelled name. That has something.  biggrin

No, I didn´t know the band Dragonfly. Somehow they passed me.
But yes, they´re great and the guitar player is really cool. With that mustache and the long hair, he kinda looks like a mix of the early - and late Freddy Mercury, lol.

Thanks for posting that last one. I´ll have to hear deeper into their sound, when I find the time. Wink

However that was, when I was young. Everyone wanted to be a rockstar with a cool electric guitar.  Cool

Nowadays I more and more enjoy and admire the sound of the classical pianos and guitars. Either nearly - or totally unplugged. It´s why I liked the video of Johnny Cash so much, Kujo posted.

I guess the following 3 vids will illustrate that:

Guitar Artistry of Chris Proctor (Part 1 of 2)

Pink Floyd Pulse Tour - "Wish You Were Here"

Tommy Emmanuel & Jake Shimabukuro - While my guitar gently weeps

Chilling/Ballad/Sex.... in that order biggrin
