Let me start by welcoming Kujo and wishing him every success in his appointment as Forum Manager. I don't believe I know him although it's entirely possible that he is known to me by another name. In any event I have heard nothing but good things about him from my late step father and others. Although I recognize that restoring these forums to their former glory may not be possible I wish Kujo all the best in any attempt he makes to "liven up the house."
I have been a fairly frequent contributor to these forums in the past and, to be honest, I know I have irritated quite a few of you. I cannot promise not to do so again because it's in my nature to hold forth on controversial subjects. What I will promise, however, is to remain civil and respectful in anything I post. How others respond to my views and opinions is up to them and the F.M's moderation.
I have played our beloved little game since its inception as Fighter Ace back in the days of the Microsoft Gaming Zone and it has a special place in my heart although I don't fly as often as I used to. Free For All tends to bore me rather quickly but I do enjoy occasional forays into the weekly events. I guess it's because team effort is much more interesting to me than being a lone wolf. I suppose I should consider, once again, becoming a member of a squad but I doubt whether my indifferent pilot skills would attract any offers. I also have the problem of not being able to use voice communication which, I'm sure, is now an important part of squad tactics. That form of communication probably also explains why I find the arenas a little boring; all the conversation, banter etc is taking place over TeamSpeak. At least I like to think that's the reason no one talks to me anymore

Returning to the subject of USAAC and the forums I know I have, at times, been critical and guilty of making snide comments about their management. I would like it to be understood, however, that I believe in the concept of a US community and the forums as a venue where US players and their friends can relax and talk about anything they please. In that light I promise to do my best to promote the "club" and the new Forum Manager to the best of my ability.
I will conclude with a few words about Kujo's predecessor. I am no hypocrite and freely admit that TBar and I have had our differences. Although I have frequently questioned his ability in the areas of moderation and diplomacy I would be the first to admit that he has been an asset to the game and the community in many different ways. No one should overlook or forget his selfless contributions even if he does manage to "creep under our skin" at times

So believe it or not I wish him all the best and sincerely hope that he will continue to serve the game in those areas where he has such valuable expertise.
PS...is it just me or is the USAAC site very slow to load these days?
