Thank you, Del. Your posts were really interesting and informative but it doesn't look like there is much interest from anyone else. Frankly I think the USAAC site is dying a natural death. The only time it seems to wake up a little is when a flame war starts over something. I thought that maybe an interesting computer discussion would arouse some interest but...........
I seem to remember that the topic of "Computer Problems" came about because Firestorm thought it would be helpful to have a place where folks could bring their hardware/software problems and seek help.
I've noticed that something similar is done on the U.K. site and there are always a number of people willing to assist. The only problem I see with it over there is that, out of all the well meaning responses, only a few contain useful or relevant information. Many offer suggestions and opinions but only a few seem to have any technical know how. The danger is that someone who may not be computer literate will follow advice that could make their problem even worse. I've noticed, fortunately, that Del usually steps in with sound advice and resolves the issue before the well meaning amateurs cause some damage. Folks need to be careful about what advice they follow.

I think Del answered everything I needed to say and more so I left that alone.
As for the UK site and their forums, I have helped in that respect also adding some info via the forums and PM's to help out a member when needed. I will never advise anyone on a subject I do not know about, so be rest assured you will never get bad info from me, but I can see your point.
You do need to be careful of who is giving the info and get a second opinion if the person is unknown to you.
